As is normal at this time of year, the government announced the new compensation limits for employment tribunals from 6 April 2024 (subject to parliament approving them). The key ones are as follows:
- The maximum compensatory award for unfair dismissal increases from £105,707 to £115,115; and
- The limit on a week’s pay (used to calculate redundancy payments amongst other things) increases from £643 to £700.
Along with the NMW rates above, the increases are significant, driven largely by the high rate of inflation for a large part of the last year. We can take a little comfort in at least the new numbers being easy to remember.
