Should we be afraid of AI?

To add to these thoughts, in March 2023 Goldman Sachs released a report highlighting that AI could replace around 300 million jobs around the world, which is a frightening thought, however there are many benefits to be had to balance the fear.

The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) have undertaken research into AI and the future of technology at work. Research showed that introducing AI / Robots and automation benefitted workplaces by seeing an improved quality of good or services (52%), reduced costs (37%) and an overall increased revenue (34%).

AI is also set to create jobs as there will be a greater need for roles such as data analysts and business development roles to interpret the data and move organisations forward in the world of technology.

Another benefit is that when employees have to do less of the heavy mental lifting making use of AI, it’s like a breath of fresh air for everyone involved. Imagine colleagues not getting bogged down with those repetitive tasks. Instead, they are able to focus on the work that really adds value to the organisation. Happier employees mean happier workplaces all around. It’s a win-win situation, really.
