10 Years of View HR: From Corporate to CommunityBy Heidi Roper, Director at View HR

If you had told me a decade ago that I’d be part of a fast-growing HR consultancy with deep roots in the local business community, I’d have probably smiled politely and carried on climbing the corporate ladder. But life had other ideas, and thank goodness it did!

I joined View HR in 2019. Back then, we were working from Gemma’s garden office. It was a far cry from my past life managing global HR in multinational firms, but something about the way Gemma and Sarah approached their work just felt right. We clicked straight away. They were doing HR differently – personal, flexible, expert – and I knew I wanted to be part of it.

Since then, we’ve gone from a two-person garden setup to a fully fledged team with a brilliant office, a loyal client base, and a reputation that attracts work from Magic Circle law firms and major employers. Becoming a shareholder in 2021 was a proud moment, but it’s the people I work with, our team and our clients, that make the role so rewarding.

We’ve worked across just about every sector you can imagine: manufacturing, tech, construction, education, retail, PR, marine, care, charities, recruitment, and more. We’ve supported schools, colleges, start-ups, and large employers. From tricky team dynamics to strategic workforce planning, I’ve loved getting stuck into complex projects and seeing the positive difference we can make.

And yes, sometimes that’s been about the big stuff – coaching HR leaders, delivering full compensation reviews, navigating executive mediations. But often, it’s been about simply being there. Listening. Helping someone untangle a difficult situation. Being a sounding board when it matters most.

One thing that’s always set View HR apart is our values. We don’t just talk about trust, transparency, and teamwork, we live it. We’re not interested in tying clients into long contracts or making HR transactional. We believe in building real relationships and giving honest, practical advice that helps businesses and people thrive.

That same approach is reflected in how we engage with our community. Over the years, we’ve supported causes like STARF, helping children from disadvantaged backgrounds access counselling, taken part in virtual challenges for Bristol Children’s Hospital, backed appeals for elderly transport, and given time and support through New Forest Business Partnership, WSX Enterprise, Dorset Growth Hub, and Salisbury Chamber.

We also proudly sponsor local organisations like the Ringwood & Fordingbridge Business Community, and I’ve had the privilege of volunteering with Young Enterprise, helping young people build employability skills that will shape their future careers.

These relationships matter. We care about the community we live and work in, and we want to see it thrive.

As we look ahead to the next 10 years, I’m excited. We’ve got big plans, including partnerships with Business South, growing our team, and continuing to set the standard for HR and employment law support that’s genuinely people-first and commercially sharp.

If there’s one thing to know about View HR, it’s that we’re genuine. We’re not a call centre or a generic provider. We’re a team of experienced professionals who take pride in doing meaningful work and building trusted relationships with our clients.

To every client, partner and colleague who’s been part of our journey, thank you. Here’s to the next 10 years.
